Beyond standard martial-arts styled combat, there are broken bones, people set on fire, and shootings just to name the orthodox deaths. In one scene a man's head is sliced into with a meat cleaver, throughout the film several people are liquefied, with blood, bones and guts flying in every direction.
We see the remains of a child's leg bone being eaten by dogs. In one especially hard to watch scene a woman is savagely beaten by a man attempting to rape her. A man's arms are cut off with a power saw, and a number of other visceral images occur. There are several graphic sex scenes, along with a briefly seen but explicit page from a pornographic comic book.
Manhattan is frequently naked, and we see his CGI genitals often. Both male and female partial nudity beyond this. There aren't necessarily good role models or messages as much as there are complicated moral conundrums which the viewer will have to make their own decisions on. All of the film's heroes are flawed to a noticeable degree. On the side of characters we can confidently say have good intentions, one of which is still incredibly antisocial and hateful; meanwhile some of the other heroes are downright evil, or at the very least willing to do horrible things to achieve what they believe to be a positive outcome.
Parent of a year-old Written by Epicfishkeeper February 22, Your children will find out about sex sooner or later. But dr. Manhattan does not wear clothes Adult Written by Cider February 17, There are several cool fight scenes but nothing more then 20 minutes of fights in the 3 hours. The plot is extremely complex and has several pointless side stories which do absolutely nothing to the plot and just tack on time. The timeline is also confusing and only has a little flashback.
The blue guy is constantly naked which is just weird seeing an animated blue but and penis. Another human guy is also naked so you can see his button several scenes.
One of the female actors is also fully nude. It talks about rape several times with two of the character. This title contains: Sexy stuff. Written by Anonymous November 21, The butt review This is a adult movie and not for young kids or young teens.
There is a scene of rape. There is a lot of violence, smoking and drinking in this film. Adult Written by Justin H. May 23, Decent movie but complex and violent! Sometimes with me its not about how much blood is shown in a movie, but the way it's done that's the issue with what I think is appropriate.
For example, there is a scene where a mans arms are sawed off, but in reality, I don't think someone in real life is just going to walk outside and saw off limbs and body parts. The movie may be violent and have sex geared towards middle to older teens, but the violence is unrealistic.
Breasts are shown during a sex scene, but do you really think by 15 your child hasn't already seen a or been exposed to it. A man is shown nude but it's computerized and not real. I just think someone under 17 would be bored with this film.
This is of course just my opinion on this movie. Adult Written by Olivlol April 2, Dark film Very gruesome violence throughout the film. Laurie wears a skin tight suit which reveals a lot of cleavage, she takes this off a lot in the movie. In one scene she disrobes, straddles a guy then begins thrusting on him.

Watchmen is intriguing in how character based it is. It rarely devolves into full on action film like many of its Marvel rivals. This means Watchmen is thoroughly atmospheric and grim, but never really exciting. It's highly stylized and undeniably interesting, but it is polarizing in its detached storytelling. By all means worth a watch, but hard to embrace. Rating: Bradley J Super Reviewer. Feb 21, Watchmen proves that Zack Snyder's gory and dark vision is continued on this film.
The tone is quite advanced and complex to benefit the film but the somewhat confusing story gets in the way of the movie being a staple. Though this film is definitely a classic comic book movie that every comic book reader should watch. Tyler H Super Reviewer. Jul 05, Dark and violent, Watchmen is a neo-noir science fiction superhero film that might satisfy the fans but the ridiculous theme and complex narrative made the film almost unbearable.
Sylvester K Super Reviewer. Apr 29, Big fan of slow-mo? Well this and just about every other Zack Snyder film will float your boat. There are some great scenes in this film; pity that Zack has almost no justifiable claim over any of them. But he sure does make them pictures look pretty. Hardly a reimagining, and least of all an inspired adaptation of Alan Moores classic story, but still probably his best work to date.
And sadly, that isn't saying much. Slo-mo is to Snyder what big-ass explosions are to Michael Bay. Watchmen is pretty good—and if he ever released a SnyderCut omitting that sex scene, perhaps it might even be great. Dave and Chris welcome back chef Diep Tran to celebrate the treasured elixir that is Red Boat Fish Sauce before embarking on a whirlwind survey of their all-time favorite potluck play—Vietnamese summer rolls.
Plus David and Kaz open the show discussing the beef between Lince Dorado and the father of superfan Izzy. It is hard to see how anyone would benefit from the utter destruction of the planet, but remember that in there was a nuclear standoff between the United States and the Soviet Union that threatened exactly that. My enemies must lose. In a cosmic sense, nothing really matters, but best not meditate on that too much.
The Watchmen and their special gifts are all the better able to see how powerless they really are, and although all but Dr. Manhattan are human and back the home team, their powers are not limitless. Manhattan, existing outside time and space, is understandably remote from the fate of our tiny planet, although perhaps he still harbors some old emotions.
Those kinds of quandaries engage all the Watchmen, and are presented in a film experience of often fearsome beauty. It might seem improbable to take seriously a naked blue man, complete with discreet genitalia, but Billy Crudup brings a solemn detachment to Dr. Manhattan that is curiously affecting. Does he remember how it felt to be human? No, but hum a few bars. Crudup does the voice and the body language, which is transformed by software into a figure of considerable presence.
That they do this with trademarked names and appliances goes back to their origins in Greece, where Zeus had his thunderbolts, Hades his three-headed dog, and Hermes his winged feet. Could Zeus run fast? Did Hermes have a dog?
