Water repellent boots are good for wet environments however. I speak from personal experience when I was a paratrooper something like a Us army Ranger. The rocky c4t is a very light weight boot and forms well around my feet and shins But they are not made well. The vented version have been great for rucking so far. I also hear that the Rocky C4T boots are lighter and also good so who knows if those would be better or not.
Nice review. They are great boots and worked great, until we went in the water. I was carrying buckets of water around in my feet after that, and like you said they never really dried out. Since then, I did a big investigation on new boots as I prepared for Heavy. Of what I tried, those seemed to be the best quality and I really wanted to like them.
Maybe I have skinny calves? I also tried the Garmont T-8 which has its origins as a real Jungle boot perfect for GORUCK events however mine created a strange pressure point on the top of my foot that foreshadowed problems.
They are no frills, but very light, pretty comfortable, and have held up fantastically with over ruck-miles on them. I look forward to hearing how the S2Vs work out for you.
